Beauty Queen: Jehan Tribunal

The lovely Jehan is Candidate #4 in the Queen Mother of Cebu 2024 beauty pageant. She is representing Talisay City

So, how did you get into pageantry? What made you want to compete?

I was inspired by my mother to join pageantry. She is a beauty queen in her own right, and witnessing her journey through competitions made me appreciate her even more as a beautiful human being. Her advocacy on Solo Parenting empowers women, and I am proud of her. I want to carry on her legacy of empowering people, which is why I decided to join the Queen Mother of Cebu. My goal is to celebrate my mother, my heritage, and to continue the legacy my mother started on women empowerment through my advocacy.

What does beauty mean to you? It’s more than just looks, right?

Yes, I agree that beauty goes beyond what the eyes can see. It is a feeling that can be experienced through all senses. When you extend words of kindness, touch people’s hearts with your actions, listen with empathy, and spread love with your presence, that’s when you radiate true beauty. It’s about making people feel good around you and bringing out the best in them. I believe, true beauty lies within the depths of your soul, and it is something that emanates from your heart.

What makes you special? What sets you apart from the other contestants?

Jehan: I am special because I believe in the authenticity of my advocacy and that is to heal humanity, one mother at a time.

As a life coach, I am dedicated to empowering mothers through a self-awareness program called “Mothership”. My vision is to create a safe haven for mothers where they can express themselves freely without guilt, make mistakes without fear of judgment, and experience love without conditions.

If you win, how would you use your title to help others?

Jehan: If I am crowned as Queen Mother of Cebu 2024, I will begin my journey by helping and serving the Queen Mother organization first. Through my Mothership program, I aspire to empower my fellow Queens since this program is designed to help them develop stronger relationships with their spouse, child, community, faith, and themselves. I believe that by creating a group of empowered and healed mothers, together, we can make a significant impact and journey towards our vision of a better world.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned from being in pageants?

Jehan: One of the coolest things I have learned in pageantry is the ability to walk, twist and turn while wearing 7-inch heels without slipping. This is quite surprising for me as I am usually more of a rubber shoes kind of person. However, what is even more surprising than this skill is the sense of overflowing confidence I feel when I walk alongside my fellow candidates. It is reassuring to know that if I happen to fall, I can count on my sisters to help me get back up.

How do you deal with people who might say mean things?

Jehan: Whenever someone makes a mean comment, I ask myself three questions: is it true, is it kind, and is it necessary for my inner transformation? If the answer to any of those questions is no, I let the comment go and continue to live my life with a grateful heart.

Tell us about a time something amazing happened during a pageant!

Jehan: What makes the pageant world truly amazing is the connection that participants are able to build as they journey together. It’s a celebration of womanhood, culture, and legacy, bringing women from all walks of life together. Beyond the glitz and glamour, pageantry is about embracing diversity and creating a bond that lasts a lifetime.

What kind of person do you think does well in pageants?

Jehan: For me, whoever is the most authentic, will definitely excel in pageantry.  Living authentically means knowing yourself. Knowing yourself means loving yourself. Loving yourself means being able to fulfil your advocacy well. This is what the world needs— you, at your most loving.

Being in a pageant means a lot of people are watching. How do you stay yourself through it all?

Jehan: It is absolutely understandable to feel a bit overwhelmed when entering pageantry. It’s natural to worry about how people perceive you as you become more visible. However, it’s important to remember that no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. So, it’s crucial to be kind to yourself and take things one step at a time. In my opinion, the key to staying true to yourself during this process is to appreciate the journey and trust that it will be a memorable experience.

What do you dream of doing in the future, pageant world or not?

Jehan: I am driven to constantly learn and grow in my coaching career, and to forge a powerful partnership with The Queen Mother of Cebu organization to expand my team exponentially. I am also deeply committed to expanding The Beautiful Light, a community I founded during the pandemic to support gifted blind individuals. Moving forward, I will continue to devote myself to discovering new ways to love and make a positive impact in the world.
