Persia Americana

Location: Valencia, Province of Bukidnon, Northern Mindanao, Philippines

How Did You Choose Your Name: Persia Americana got its band name from the scientific name of the avocado.

Genre: Alternative metal/experimental

Describe your band: The bandmembers were all agriculture students from Central Mindanao University. The band was heavily influenced by the funk rock genre of Red-Hot Chili Peppers, and covered most of their popular songs. The band went on to play several genres including alternative, reggae, grunge, rap metal, nu-metal and heavy metal covers. Those musical influences commenced to the fusion of those genre into their original music especially on Bryan’s creative writing.

The band has changed a lot since their early funk rock to nu-metal days and its pretty great to see how big Persia Americana has progressed through the years. In 2004, the then manager of “Chardys Bar & Grill” – Peter Guasa (a good friend of Bryan and a 90’s music aficionado), made the band a regular performer every Wednesday, playing a variety of covers.

From 2005- 2007, they went on to become the best reggae band in Bukidnon and became a recognizable name in bars around the province. After years of inactivity from the band scene, Bryan is more excited about Persia Americana’s future and believes that they will soon explode in popularity. Pairing with Ange Moralde, a very talented musician and recording enthusiast, Bryan and Ange started arranging and re-writing old material that Bryan had co-written with Felmar Sol with contributions from Nelson Abarrientos.

The single “She”, released as a demo with Rommel Valdez contributing on bass, sounds amazing and has had good reviews.

Persia Americana has endured dormancy and obscurity after multiple member changes but change brings new opportunities and improvement. Their Bukidnon fanbase watched them grow, reinvent themselves and evolve into musicians dedicated to creating original music.
