How did you get into pageantry? What made you want to compete?

I learned about the Queen Mother of Cebu pageant through my friend when she posted a link about the screening. I was amazed to discover that there is a pageant for mothers that anyone can join as long as they are a mother. It has always been my dream to participate in a prestigious pageant like this; however, I paused my aspirations after giving birth to my eldest child. Now, by entering the Queen Mother of Cebu pageant, I aim to demonstrate to everyone that even as mothers, we can grace the stage and serve as role models to other mothers, showcasing our beauty and capabilities.

What does beauty mean to you? It’s more than just looks, right?

As a mother, beauty for me is not just about the look but having a good character inside and out, especially in dealing with people and in how you give impact and inspire others.

What makes you special? What sets you apart from the other contestants?

For me, nothing is special because we are created by God equally, and as mothers, we should not compare ourselves to others because we have different missions and goals in life. We have different upbringings as we have different ways to raise our children and to give them the best in life.

If you win, how would you use your title to help others?

If I win Queen Mother of Cebu 2024, I will use my title by helping others through the mission, vision, and core values of Queen Mother of Cebu to give back to others, engage in community and charity work, and use this platform to let others know that Queen Mother of Cebu is not just a pageant but an organization with a mission and purpose to give back to those in need.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned from being in pageants?

The coolest thing I’ve learned being in pageants is to listen before reacting and judging because not all you’ve heard is true. Before judging other people, try to know their story. We all have different stories, and as humans, I don’t have the right to judge others.

How do you deal with people who might say mean things?

I cannot please everybody; whether good or bad, people have a lot to say. For this, I will take every mean thing as a positive insight because in that mean thing, you will learn. And if you learn, you will grow, and if you grow, you will be successful.

Tell us about a time something amazing happened during a pageant!

I was amazed by what mothers can do on stage. We slay, and we are beautiful with a purpose.

What kind of person do you think does well in pageants?

A person who has an impact on others and sets a good example for others.

Being in a pageant means a lot of people are watching. How do you stay yourself through it all?

Pray for strength, be confident, and be who you are in front of the people.

What do you dream of doing in the future, pageant world or not?

I always dream of helping others, even in small ways. I want to be a mother with a purpose who will help other mothers and women to end violence. As my advocacy to end gender-based violence, I want to help other women fight whatever violence they experience. As we all know, violence negatively affects women’s general well-being and prevents them from participating in society. I want to empower women by educating them that violence is never okay, that we are human, and we deserve to be loved and respected.
