Feng Shui has a lot to offer in guiding the improvement of a person’s health. In fact, the saying “wealth is health” originated from ancient Feng Shui masters.

The importance of having good health should not be overlooked because if a person is weak and prone to illness, their life and capabilities will be limited.

In Feng Shui, there is a direct relationship between health and the quality of energy in the home and office. According to Feng Shui perspective, how good is your environment? Is your bedroom healthy? What is the air quality in your home or office? According to some studies, most homes and offices have lower energy levels compared to the normal levels needed for a healthy body and mind.

Here are some basic and simple Feng Shui tips that can greatly help improve a person’s health—both physically and mentally.

Consider the quality of the air around you. Outdoor air pollution is as serious as indoor air pollution. Unless you live in a green and healthy environment, regularly improving the air quality you breathe is as important as ensuring an adequate intake of food and drinking water. One of the most effective ways to improve indoor air quality is by placing air-purifying plants. Some indoor plants that can be placed include snake plant, money plant, jade plant, palm, fern, peace lily, gerbera daisy, bamboo palm, and spider plant. Scientifically, these plants have the ability to filter and absorb some harmful household chemicals such as benzene (causing eye irritation, dizziness, headaches, and loss of appetite), TCE (causing liver cancer), and formaldehyde (causing throat and eye irritation and difficulty breathing, especially in asthmatics). In terms of Feng Shui, these indoor plants can attract luck and provide protection against negative entities.

Consider the lighting and color inside your home/office. Natural light from the sun is a vitamin (Vitamin D) needed by the body to stay healthy. Aside from natural light, the interior paint also has a significant effect on the total well-being of people indoors. Vibrant colors such as red can stimulate creativity and a happy feeling. The color blue can calm tense nerves. Feng Shui-wise, the colors red and blue are considered lucky because they symbolize power and peace.

Enrich the Health Area. In Feng Shui, each home and office has a specific area responsible for the health of the people residing or working there. The health area is located in the East sector of the house or office. Add wood and water element colors to this area. You can also display a laughing Buddha or a Bamboo plant to enrich the health area of your home or office.

Create “spa energy” in your bathroom. A sense of well-being is directly related to the quality of energy in the bathroom. In fact, one of the major challenges in Feng Shui is how to harmonize the energy inside a bathroom. However, one of the simplest ways to boost the energy here is to create a spa-like ambiance. Place some artwork that uplifts your mood, scented candles, an aromatherapy diffuser, and other items that contribute to the spa ambiance of the bathroom. Enhancing the energy of the bathroom also improves the sense of well-being.

Feng Shui your bedroom. It is also important to arrange the energy of the room since we spend more time resting here. The bedroom is connected to intimate relationships and well-being. One of the best Feng Shui remedies for a bedroom is to bring in natural light. Open the windows to let in fresh air and let out the accumulated toxic air inside. In Feng Shui, it is also considered unlucky to pile or place various items under the bed, especially shoes, as it signifies sickness and sadness. Therefore, organize the room to encourage a sense of tranquility. Remember that the bedroom is designed for relaxation. Make it bright and clutter-free.
