Jan is contestant #13 in the Queen Mother of Cebu 2024 beauty pageant.
So, how did you get into pageantry? What made you want to compete?
I started pageantry during college days. I was always a muse in the class. I also placed 1st in Miss Cosmos. Now that I’m a mother, I restarted in the year 2022. I joined Mrs. Cebu 2022. I got the most photogenic award and the most popular award. In the year 2023, I won Metro Supermom. Queen Mother is my 3rd pageant.
What does beauty mean to you? It’s more than just looks, right?
Physical beauty does not define you. The goodness in your heart shines from within. It radiates in your personality, and that’s what makes you beautiful.
What makes you special? What sets you apart from the other contestants?
Each candidate is unique. Each one of us has its own individuality. I have my own personality and characteristics that make me unique.
If you win, how would you use your title to help others?
I will connect to other organizations that can help me promote my advocacy and support our charities. I will influence people to practice social awareness, especially in helping those who are in need. It could mean mental, emotional, and psychological support, or financial aid if necessary, especially for calamity and fire victims.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned from being in pageants?
The coolest thing about joining pageants is that we were able to establish sisterhood. Instant siblings from other mothers. The bonding, sharing our agendas, laughing together, crying, talking about silly things. The best part is we support each other.
How do you deal with people who might say mean things?
I am a forgiving person. I can tolerate and ignore. If it’s already degrading, I will exercise my right to defend my honor.
Tell us about a time something amazing happened during a pageant!
The most amazing thing I’ve seen in the pageant is the perseverance of the candidates in winning. But the catch is the sportsmanship after the pageant.
What kind of person do you think does well in pageants?
When you are well-prepared and ready for the challenge, when you exert your 100 percent, most of all when you put your heart and soul into what you do, and by asking the grace of God in your journey, you are good to go.
Being in a pageant means a lot of people are watching. How do you stay yourself through it all?
It takes guts and confidence to face people. Just be yourself, be confident, and it will take you anywhere in the world.
What do you dream of doing in the future, pageant world or not?
Since I am into car rental business, I would want to expand my business in the future adding realty investments. I can see myself traveling around the world. With pageants, why not? If I still have it, I will flaunt it.
