Lloyd is a seasoned pageant candidate and the winner of Mister Bohol 2023. He is presently a candidate in Mister International Philippines Bohol 2024.
What inspired you to participate in a male beauty pageant, and what do you hope to achieve or represent through this experience?
As an entrepreneur, pageants have never been my outlet for ventures. However, the people behind me push me to get the chance to represent them on the stage, so I am to join the pageant.
As I joined Mister Bohol, I realized the connection being built and the opportunity I can get to achieve my purpose, which is to bridge the people who can help to those who need help, as a spokesperson.
Can you share some insights into the preparation process for a male beauty pageant, including the challenges you’ve faced and the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
I can say that the journey of pageantry is about understanding your authentic self and what you can contribute to the community as a representative. The biggest challenge is the discipline to constantly evolve to be the best version of yourself, mentally and physically. And to have discipline is to understand that you have a selfless reason for joining.
In your opinion, what qualities or attributes are essential for a successful male pageant contestant, and how do you embody these traits?
As I won Mister Bohol 2024, I always embody the important qualities that I have, and that is exercising self-awareness by opening myself to any room for improvement and understanding my weaknesses. Above all, the journey towards greatness should not stop in my mind but should inspire through my acts and inflect change in society, such as realizing my core.
As I believe, once you have become the best version of yourself, you can influence others to do the same.
How do you plan to use your platform as a male pageant contestant to advocate for causes or make a positive impact in your community?
Pageants give us the platform to be seen and heard. Thus, I will use this tenet to become a spokesperson to influence people by realizing my cause, and that is
Empowering children through entrepreneurship and financial literacy to become adult-ready.
What are you most looking forward to during the pageant experience, and what do you anticipate will be the most memorable aspect for you?
The pageant provides a venue to meet a lot of people from different walks of life from whom we can learn from each other, and this is the most meaningful and memorable aspect for me.
How do you envision the role of male beauty pageants evolving in the future, and what changes would you like to see within the industry?
I envision the role of male beauty pageants as more than just being a facade; this is what I want to change—that this is not just an entertainment segment but a meaningful venue for us to influence people through realizing the causes we believed in that can contribute to good change in the community.
