The Cove at Okada Manila in Paranaque is truly a world class entertainment and perfect venue for the 2019 Miss Philippines-Earth Coronation Night held last July 10.
Among the 40 candidates, Ms. Janelle Lazo Tee, 28 years old of Pasig City was proclaimed Miss Philippines Earth 2019 and will represent our country in the Miss Earth pageant this coming October. This is a second try for Janelle who tried her luck way back in 2014. And definitely there are so many lessons learned for this beautiful lady after so many things that happened to her.
“It changed a lot in terms of experiences in life. And it made me fight again here in Miss Philippines Earth. I actually thought of quitting in the pageantry since I’m now working as a TV host on GMA 7,” Tee said. She also added, “Win or lose, I will give it another shot.”
Miss Philippines Earth 2018 Celeste Cortesi was equally happy as she crowned her successor.
All the candidates are beautiful and the Top 5 winners are deserving of their titles. And what made the candidate from Pasig stand out was her answer to the final round of Q & A.
The question was “What is the better way to encourage more people to become more environmentally conscious is it to give “incentives” rather than penalize violators. In the Q&A round, Tee explained: “We have to teach [communities that need help] how to fish rather than just give them a fish for a day. Because if we teach them how to fish, it would become their living.” And that was her winning answer.
Tee was born in Davao. Her professional career includes hosting stints for ANC’s “Chinoy TV” and the GMA-7 game show “Wowowin,” according to her MPE profile. Her main advocacy is to promote eco-tourism, which is consistent with her Q&A round speech, saying that this would lead to “inclusive growth in each and every community” in the country.
Also notable about the newly crowned MPE 2019 is when they paid a courtesy visit to the newly elected Pasig, City Mayor Vico Sotto with whom she shares her advocacy in promoting health care. She also said that aside from her advocacy, she’d like to travel around the Philippines and promote eco-tourism.
Anyway, here are the other winners:
