OUR MISSION
To quote our Event Director Lyn Shadbolt: “whilst the pageant not surprisingly has a core
element of ‘beauty’, the eventual winners will have also exhibited a sense of fashion,
grace, flair, intelligence and poise under pressure. Our pageant is about so much more
than just ‘beauty’ – it is about making dreams come true and building confidence and
character. Indeed, ‘beauty crowns’ are not simply made of metal and glittery stones –
they are built upon putting yourself out on a limb, exhibiting determination and courage –
very empowering.”
Empowerment, creating life-long friendships and lasting memories – all whilst having
fun and supporting worthy causes. What a fantastic concept to be a part of –
candidates and sponsors alike.

1) Why and how did you create the Face of Queensland Australia?
I created the pageant because I wanted to build a platform that celebrates diversity,
empowers individuals, and nurtures confidence – no matter their age, background, or
body type. It’s not just about beauty; it is about making dreams come true and building
confidence and character. Through this pageant, I hoped to inspire others to step into
their potential, share their culture, and amplify voices that deserve to be heard. This
pageant was my way of giving people – especially those from multicultural backgrounds – a chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated. I wanted to create a space where every
individual could feel proud of who they are, where their story matters, and where beauty
is defined by courage, culture, and character. It’s more than a competition – it’s a
community, a family, and a journey of empowerment.

2) What inspired you the most in choosing the name ” Face of Australia Queensland”?
The name Face of Australia was inspired by the vision of showcasing the true beauty
and diversity of Australia. I wanted a name that reflects more than just appearance –
something that represents identity, strength, culture, and community. ‘Face’ symbolizes
visibility, pride, and individuality – and Face of Australia means that anyone, no matter
their age, background, or story, can proudly represent what Australia stands for:
inclusion, resilience, and multicultural unity. It’s about giving people a platform to be
the face of their own journey, and to inspire others along the way.”

3) When did you create this pageant?
I started July 2019. Since its inauguration in 2019, FOAQ has grown into one of
Australia’s most prestigious pageants.

4) If you could give one message to young girls growing up today, what would it be?
To every young girl out there – never forget that your voice matters, your dreams are
valid, and your uniqueness is your superpower. The world might try to tell you who to be
but always stay true to who you are. Be proud of where you come from, stand tall in your
values, and know that beauty comes from confidence, kindness, and courage. Don’t be
afraid to take up space, to lead, to fail, and to rise again. You were born to shine – and
you don’t need to change a thing to be worthy of love, respect, and success

5) If you had one year and unlimited resources to help your community, what would you
do?
If I had one year and unlimited resources to help the community, I would focus on
creating long-term, life-changing opportunities – especially for women, youth, and
multicultural families. I’d build community hubs where people can access free
education, mentorship, mental health support, and career training. I would fund
scholarships for young people, especially in my home country- Philippines. I’d also
organize programs that nurture confidence, leadership, and self-worth especially for
those who often feel overlooked or left behind. My goal would be to leave behind
something lasting – not just events, but systems of support, growth, and empowerment
that continue well beyond the year.
