Beauty Queen: Nicole B. Monterubio

Nicole certainly has a bright future ahead of her. This lovely beauty queen from Cabuyao, Laguna, in the Philippines, has proven herself at a very young age to be a pageant star and ready for the next level of stardom. To put this young lady in grander terms, Nicole is the perfect example of why Filipinas win so many international pageants.

How did you get into pageantry? What made you want to compete?

It all started with my participation in the school pageant back in 2018. My pageant was Miss Campus 2018 at Christ The King School of Cabuyao, where I was crowned the Title Holder. Recognizing my potential, the organizers of that event began supporting me to compete on larger platforms, igniting my passion for pageantry.

What does beauty mean to you? It’s more than just looks, right?

I truly believed that beauty encompasses much more than just physical appearance. It extends to qualities such as kindness, empathy, intelligence, and resilience. True beauty lies in how we treat others and the positive impact we make in the world.

What makes you special? What sets you apart from the other contestants?

I believe that each contestant possesses unique qualities and strengths. What sets me apart from them is my strong drive to showcase my talents, beauty, and advocacy. I am determined to put in the hard work required and aspire to inspire others. Throughout my journey in pageantry, I have encountered challenges and responsibilities that have pushed me to improve continually. These experiences have shown me that I am capable of achieving many things and growing as an individual.

If you win, how would you use your title to help others?

If I will win, I will use my title and this platform to empower all youth by creating an inclusive and supportive environment that enables for their growth, development, and success. As someone who’s rallying for mental health awareness, I believe that it is something that we need to give attention and support where we can create an environment where every youth has the opportunity to thrive, contribute to society, and to fulfill their potential.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned from being in pageants?

One of the coolest things I’ve learned from pageantry is the power of resilience and determination. It’s incredible how much one can grow and develop as a person by facing challenges, stepping out of comfort zones, and persistently working towards goals. Pageantry has taught me about self-confidence, discipline, and the importance of using my voice and platform for positive change.

How do you deal with people who might say mean things?

Let’s all be honest that in pageantry, we encounter not only positive feedback but also negative comments. Handling negative remarks can be tough, so let’s address them with kindness and a positive outlook. While we can’t control how others perceive us, we can use their words as motivation to prove them wrong. Always remember, the opinions of others don’t define your worth or capabilities. Stay focused on your goals and surround yourself with positivity and support.

Tell us about a time something amazing happened during a pageant!

My most recent pageant marked my second attempt at competing for the title. It required a great deal of courage to enter the competition once more. I grappled with the fear of potential failure again, which weighed heavily on me. Surprisingly, things took an unexpected turn. I not only won all the minor awards but also clinched the title.

Being in a pageant means a lot of people are watching. How do you stay yourself through it all?

Before stepping onto the stage, I always begin with a moment of prayer and take deep breaths to center myself. I find joy in every moment I spend on stage, maintaining my focus on my routines and disregarding distractions.

What do you dream of doing in the future, pageant world or not?

I have numerous aspirations for my future. I aim to pursue a career in psychology while also advancing in pageantry and modeling. Given the opportunity to participate in larger pageants, I would gladly seize the chance.
