Beauty Queen Kim Carmel Maxilom

Kim is a young gorgeous candidate in the Binibining Tuburan 2024 beauty pageant. You will read below that she is highly intelligent, sympathetic and beautiful, inside and out. She has a huge future waiting for her.

So, how did you get into pageantry? What made you want to compete?

The people in our town always encouraged me to join the world of pageantry, and their unwavering support gave me the strength to compete. After winning my first-ever major pageant in our town, I started gaining more confidence, which made me want to compete even more. When I joined my second pageant, I won again. It is very overwhelming to know that I obtained two crowns in two consecutive years. I am so grateful, especially to those people who never stopped showing their support for me. I could never have achieved any of my success without them and also without believing in myself.

What does beauty mean to you? It’s more than just looks, right?

I think beauty is not just about having a perfect body and face; it’s about embracing who you are and being authentic. We can all have beauty even with your imperfections because thats what makes you “you” and being yourself is already a form of beauty. Like what we always says, everyone can beautiful inside and out.

What makes you special? What sets you apart from the other contestants?

I firmly believe that every individual possesses inherent confidence, determination, resilience, and beauty. What sets me apart is my authenticity—I am simply myself. Embracing our true selves is what truly makes us unique, as each person harbors their own distinct qualities. Sometimes, we may not even realize the uniqueness within us, but it’s there, waiting to be discovered. Let’s wholeheartedly embrace who we are and utilize that inner strength to inspire others on their own journeys of self-discovery and empowerment.

If you win, how would you use your title to help others?

Many are familiar with the challenges I’ve faced on my journey, and winning would afford me the opportunity to inspire young women who see themselves reflected in my struggles. It’s a chance to impart a powerful message: no matter the obstacles, with unwavering determination and a willingness to embrace learning, anything is within reach. My victory would serve as a beacon of hope, illustrating that resilience and perseverance pave the path to success, regardless of the hurdles encountered along the way.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned from being in pageants?

“Sisterhood”

At first I was expecting that my co-candidates would treat each other as competitors. In Bb. Tuburan it’s never like that, As the time goes by and the bond is getting deeper we can’t really deny that we are slowly getting attached to each other. They became my safe space, I can be vulnerable and goofy with them. I am so grateful to be part of Binibining Tuburan, I learned new things and I am able to find new sisters not by blood but by heart.

How do you deal with people who might say mean things?

When I first ventured into the world of pageantry, I found myself grappling with negativity. However, as I matured and gained perspective through life’s experiences, I came to a profound realization: it’s imperative not to entertain individuals who do not contribute positively to our well-being. Instead of allowing their negativity to consume us, we should channel it into motivation to excel, not for their validation, but for our own growth and fulfillment. It’s essential to prove to ourselves, rather than others, just how capable we are. Because at the of the day, our lives are shaped by our own actions and aspirations, not by the opinions of others.

Tell us about a time something amazing happened during a pageant!

The most amazing moments in pageantry often arise from self-discovery. Recognizing my weaknesses as opportunities for growth has empowered me to inspire others to embrace their flaws.

What kind of person do you think does well in pageants?

In pageants, true success comes from knowing one’s purpose and having a genuine heart for others. Intelligence and beauty are important, but it’s the inner drive and compassion that truly shine on stage.

Being in a pageant means a lot of people are watching. How do you stay yourself through it all?

Amidst the scrutiny of being in the public eye, I remain grounded by reminding myself of the hard work and dedication that brought me here. I strive to be an authentic role model, inspiring others to believe in themselves.

What do you dream of doing in the future, pageant world or not?

As a woman who harbors a profound aspiration for a tranquil and harmonious existence, I am steadfast in my dedication to advocating kindness, extending beyond human interactions to encompass our treatment of animals. My ultimate vision is to foster a global community wherein every sentient being, regardless of species, is not merely acknowledged but genuinely valued and accorded the respect they rightfully deserve. In this envisioned world, empathy and compassion serve as guiding principles, ensuring that the voices of all living creatures are heard, their worth recognized, and their well-being prioritized.
