Khirstyn was a contestant in the Queen of San Remigio 2024 beauty pageant and won several awards including Miss Photogenic

So, how did you get into pageantry? What made you want to compete?

I got into pageantry when I was 19, and it made me compete not just because I wanted to win the crown, but also because I love the experience, sisterhood, camaraderie with the candidates, and the lessons I learned from every pageant I joined. It also made me realize that beauty pageants are platforms where we can use our voices to inspire people.

What does beauty mean to you? It’s more than just looks, right?

Beauty for me is very subjective, but the most important thing about beauty is not just having good looks to impress people or others, but what radiates inside you. A true queen doesn’t just possess good looks but should also have the kindest heart and can make a difference.

What makes you special? What sets you apart from the other contestants?

What really sets me apart from other contestants is my commitment and dedication to my passion. This is my second time joining Queen of San Remigio; I joined last year and placed as 1st runner-up. The reason why I joined again is not just to grab the crown but to inspire people, especially the younger generation. I had doubts at first about joining because of my age.

I’ve been questioned, “What if you lose? What would people think about you? Won’t you feel embarrassed?” To be honest, I really don’t care about it because what matters most is the bond and experience I had with my fellow queens. It’s an experience that can’t be bought with money.

If you win, how would you use your title to help others?

I would definitely use my crown to influence people and inspire them to achieve their goals. As a queen, I would use this title to become a spokesperson for the voiceless so that their voices can be heard.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned from being in pageants?

Based on my experience, the coolest thing I have learned is the love and support from the people in our community. San Remigiohanon has been inclusive and diverse by showing love towards us.

How do you deal with people who might say mean things?

I really don’t care about what people say about me or us because at the end of the day, the most important thing is that we have shown a great performance, and I am proud and loud to be a San Remigiohanon.

Tell us about a time something amazing happened during a pageant!

Every pageant I joined, there is always something amazing that happens, but the most unforgettable thing is the support that I always have from my mom. She showed me the true meaning of dedication; she has been there from the very beginning until the end, and I am always proud to have one of the best moms ever.

What kind of person do you think does well in pageants?

Each of us queens has our own abilities, qualities, and attitude, but a true queen comes from within because no matter what happens, she will accept any circumstances in life and can definitely become an inspiration and aspiration to the people.

Being in a pageant means a lot of people are watching. How do you stay yourself through it all?

There is a lot of pressure if people are watching, and they might mock, judge, or bully us, but despite those criticisms, it would never stop me from doing what I love. As long as I can give them a good performance, that’s enough for me. I will not let negativity foster in my mind and will focus on getting the crown.

What do you dream of doing in the future, pageant world or not?

I see myself becoming a beauty pageant maker. I’m not saying that I would stop being a queen, but a true queen will always be shown through actions, and I would like to be a queen who supports others to reach their goals in life.
